BOSTON BROWN BREAD
  • Ingredients
  • 1 cup corn meal
  • 1 cup rye flour
  • 1 cup graham flour
  • 1 teaspoon soda
  • 4 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 3/4 cup molasses
  • 2 cups sour milk or buttermilk
  • 2 cups sweet milk
Directions
  1. Mix the dry ingredients and add the molasses and the milk
  2. Beat the mixture thoroughly, and pour into oiled molds until they are about 3/4 full
  3. Cover loosely to keep out the moisture, and steam for 3 1/2 hours
  4. Remove the covers and bake the bread in oven heated to 350F
  5. for 10 minutes to diy off.
