SOUR MILK BISCUITS
  • Ingredients
  • 2 cups flour
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 2 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon soda
  • 2 tablespoons lard or shortening
  • 1 cup sour milk or buttermilk
Directions
  1. Sift dry ingredients into mixing bowl
  2. Mix in lard or shortening with finger tips. To make sour milk you can put 1 tablespoon of white cider vinegar into a 1 cup measuring cup, then fill with milk
  3. Let stand at room temperature for an hour or so
  4. Add sour milk or buttermilk
  5. Mix into a soft and spongy dough
  6. Turn out onto a lightly floured board, roll 1/2 inch thick, and cut into biscuit circles
  7. Lightly flour shallow pan or cookie sheet, place biscuits not too close together, and bake for 12 minutes
  8. Makes 1-1/2 dozen.
