BOILED APPLE DUMPLINGS
  • Ingredients
  • 1 cup sour milk
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon soda
  • 1 tablespoon lard or margarine
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder flour
  • 2 cups of applesauce
  • sugar and cinnamon to taste
Directions
  1. Mix milk, melted lard, soda, salt, and baking powder
  2. To this add enough flour to make a stiff dough
  3. Roll on floured board about 1/4 inch thick
  4. Cut in 4 inch squares
  5. Put 3 tablespoons applesauce seasoned to taste with sugar and cinnamon on each square
  6. Fold over dough and press edges together
  7. Put each dumpling into its own muslin sack
  8. Drop into kettle of boiling water in which there is a rack
  9. Boil 30 minutes
  10. Serve with cream or hard sauce.
