EGGNOG
  • Ingredients
  • 6 eggs, separated
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 quart mil,
  • 2 cups heavy cream
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground nutmeg or cinnamon
  • 9 ounces rum or brandy
Directions
  1. Beat the egg yolks and sugar in the bowl until blended
  2. Slowly beat in the milk, then thoroughly stir in the cream
  3. Refrigerate this mixture while you beat the egg whites until they form soft peaks
  4. Pour chilled mixture into a punch bowl and add rum or brandy
  5. Top with the beaten egg whites, and stir deeply a few times
  6. Sprinkle the nutmeg or cinnamon over the foamy surface and carefully ladle into cups so as not to disturb the foam
  7. Makes six servings.
