TOMBSTONE HOME BREW
  • Ingredients
  • 1 Jive gallon crock
  • 1 three Joot syphon hose
  • 1 bottle capper
  • 1 box bottle caps
  • 50 beer bottles
  • 2 1/2 pounds sugar
  • 1 cup rice,
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 can red top malt.
Directions
  1. To 1 gallon water heated to boiling add sugar, rice, salt and malt
  2. Heat, stirring all the time, until it just comes to a boil
  3. Pour into 4 gallons of cold water already placed in the crock
  4. Stir and add 1 package of dry yeast, (or fresh dissolved in luke warm water)
  5. Cover with cloth
  6. Skim as needed and bottle when it has finished working but is just sparkling (3 to 5 days). Never let the first high foam turn over into the beer
  7. Skim off the foam and syphon the brew carefully to avoid stirring the sediment
  8. If it is bottled while still working it will burst the bottles and if there are too many sparkles it will be all foam when bottles are opened
  9. (Four or five sparkles a minute is about right)
  10. If it goes flat, bottle and put 1/4 teaspoon sugar in each bottle before you cap it
  11. Let stand 3 to 6 days
  12. The longer the better.
