Meaty Mushroom Sauce
  • Ingredients
  • 1 pound ground sirloin
  • 1 pound fresh mushrooms, sliced
  • 2 tablespoons chopped onion
  • 1 garlic clove, pressed
  • 1 (15-ounce) can tomato sauce
  • 1 (10-1/2-ounce) can tomato puree
  • 1 cup water
  • 2 beef bouillon cubes
  • 1 tablespoon grated fresh Parmesan cheese
  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano
  • 1 teaspoon sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon dried basil
  • 1/8 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 cup tomato juice (optional)
Directions
  1. In a large skillet, brown meat, mushrooms, onion and garlic
  2. Add tomato sauce, tomato puree, water, bouillon cubes, Parmesan cheese, oregano, sugar, basil and pepper
  3. Stir to blend ingredients
  4. Bring to a boil, cover and reduce heat, simmering for 30 minutes
  5. Add 1/2 to 1 cup tomato juice for a thinner sauce
  6. Serve over your favorite fresh pasta.
