Korean BBQ Marinade
  • Ingredients
  • 1 /2 cup dark soy sauce
  • 1 /4 cup soy sauce
  • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
  • 1 teaspoon Asian sesame oil
  • 2 tablespoons dry Sherry
  • 2 tablespoons dark brown sugar
  • 6 green onions, finely chopped
  • 5 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tablespoon toasted sesame seeds
  • 1 /4 teaspoon freshly ground pepper
Directions
  1. Place both soy sauces, both oils, Sherry and brown sugar in a medium bowl
  2. Whisk to combine
  3. Stir in green onions, garlic, sesame seeds and pepper. Yield: 1 cup SUGGESTED USE: The dark soy sauce and sesame oil are available at Asian grocery stores and some supermarkets
  4. The dark soy is very thick and dark in color but contains very little salt
  5. Asian sesame oil is made from toasted sesame seeds and provides a strong sesame taste to this marinade
  6. Try this marinade on beef top sirloin (3 to 4 hours) or a tougher cut of beef like a top round
  7. Cubes or strips of sirloin (1 hour) are often marinaded and skewered before cooking
  8. It is also very good on pork spareribs (8 hours).
