SPICED PEMMICAN
SPICED PEMMICAN
Ingredients
1/2 cup each apricots, dates and raisins
1/2 cup dried beef
Peel of I orange, grated
3/4 cup firmly packed brown sugar
1 tsp. cinnamon
1/2 tsp. each nutmeg, and allspice
Pinch salt
1 tsp. vanilla
1 TB each vinegar, oil, and maple syrup
1/2 of a beaten egg
1/2 cup flour
Cider, brandy, or rum to make a heavy dough.
Directions
Mix chopped dried fruits, dried beef, and orange peel thoroughly with spices, sugar, flavoring, vine- gar, oil, syrup, egg, and flour
Work in enough cider, brandy or rum to make a heavy dough
Put dough into an 8 inch pan and bake at 325 degrees F
for an hour or longer, until it sets well and is not too sticky
Spiced Pemmican can be kept for several weeks.
