APPLE GALETTE WITH ALMONDS
  • Ingredients
  • 4 medium Granny Smith apples
  • 1/2 teaspoon almond extract
  • 2/3 cup sugar
  • 3 tablespoons flour
  • 1 sheet frozen puff pastry, thawed
  • 3 tablespoons cold butter, cut up
  • 1/2 cup apricot preserves
  • 1 tablespoon brandy
  • 1/2 cup toasted sliced almonds
Directions
  1. Preheat oven to 375 degrees
  2. Peel apples and slice into 1/2-inch thick slices
  3. Toss apples with almond extract
  4. Combine sugar and flour and toss with apples
  5. Roll out the puff-pastry and cut to make an 11 inch circle. Transfer pastry to a parchment lined baking sheet
  6. Arrange apples in a single layer in a circular pattern to completely cover pastry
  7. Dot top with butter
  8. Bake for 40 minutes or until apples are tender
  9. Heat apricot preserves in a small saucepan until melted. Strain preserves and stir in brandy
  10. Brush over apples to glaze
  11. Immediately sprinkle with toasted almonds
  12. Let cool 10 minutes and cut into wedges to serve.
