ENGLISH TOFFEE BROWNIES
  • Ingredients
  • 5 (1.4-ounce) Heath English toffee
  • candy bars
  • 1 cup walnut pieces
  • 3 ounces unsweetened chocolate
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter
  • 1/4 cup all purpose flour
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1-2/3 cups sugar
  • 3 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
Directions
  1. Chop candy bars and set aside.Butter and flour a 13x9x2- inch metal baking pan
  2. Preheat oven to 350°F
  3. Place walnuts in a pan and bake for 8 minutes
  4. Chop nuts
  5. Chop chocolate
  6. Stir butter and chocolate in heavy small saucepan over low heat until melted and smooth
  7. Cool to lukewarm
  8. Whisk flour, salt, and baking soda in small bowl to blend
  9. Using electric mixer, beat sugar, eggs, and vanilla in large bowl until thick and light colored, about 3 minutes
  10. Beat in chocolate mixture, then flour mixture
  11. Fold in walnuts
  12. Transfer to pan
  13. Bake brownies 28 minutes or until set in center
  14. Sprinkle brownies evenly with chopped toffee bars
  15. Cut into squares.
