TOMATO PIE WITH STARS
  • Ingredients
  • 1 frozen 9-inch pie shell, thawed according to package directions
  • 2 teaspoons Dijon-style mustard
  • 2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1/4 cup tiny pasta stars (pastina)
  • 1 (28 ounce) can whole tomatoes, broken up, undrained
  • 1/2 teaspoon Italian seasoning
  • 1/8 teaspoon pepper
  • 1/4 teaspoon garlic powder
Directions
  1. Preheat the oven to 350?F
  2. Spread the mustard on the bottom of the thawed pie shell
  3. Distribute 1 cup of the mozzarella cheese over the mustard, then the pasta, tomatoes, and seasonings
  4. Top with the remaining 1 cup mozzarella cheese
  5. Bake for about 40 minutes or until golden
  6. Allow to stand for 10 minutes before serving
  7. You can prepare this a few hours before mealtime, cover and refrigerate it, then bake it just before serving.
