Orange Bourbon BBQ Sauce
  • Ingredients
  • 1/4 cup vegetable oil
  • 1 large onion, minced
  • 2/3 cup Bourbon whiskey
  • 2/3 cup ketchup
  • 1/2 cup cider vinegar
  • 1/2 cup fresh orange juice
  • 1/2 cup real maple syrup
  • 1/3 cup dark molasses
  • 2 tablespoons Worcestershire
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon freshly ground pepper
Directions
  1. Heat oil in a 4-quart saucepan and cook onions until tender, about 6 minutes
  2. Add the Bourbon, ketchup, vinegar, orange juice, maple syrup, molasses, Worcestershire, salt and pepper
  3. Bring to a boil, stirring frequently
  4. Reduce heat to low and simmer until mixture thickens, about 30 minutes. Yield: 1-1/2 cups SUGGESTED USE: This is a delicious sauce for pork spareribs (12 hours), pork tenderloin (4 hours), chicken pieces (4 hours) or boneless breasts (2 hours)
  5. Use some of the sauce as a basting sauce during the cooking and more to serve with the meat.
