VENISON STEAK
  • Ingredients
  • 1 venison round steak, 1 -inch thick
  • flour
  • 1 teaspoon ground red chili
  • salt to taste
  • 1 medium-sized onion, chopped
  • 2 teaspoons lard or vegetable shortening
  • 3 small tomatoes
  • 3 dried juniper berries, crushed
Directions
  1. Dust steak with flour, ground chili and salt
  2. In a large heavy skillet, saute onion in lard or shortening until slightiy wilted. Add tomatoes and berries and enough water to cover
  3. Simmer for 50 minutes or until tender
  4. Beef may be substituted for venison
  5. Makes 4 servings.
